Casa La Aurora is located in Arenas, a Spanish municipality in the province of Malaga in the centre of the Axarquía, between the mountains of Tejeda and Almijara and the castle of Bentomiz.

Arenas has a lush natural environment. Holm oaks, pomegranates, olives, mangoes and grapes grow in abundance. Streams supply sufficient water resulting in rich vegetation. Arenas is originally a Moorish village where the vine and the olive tree are still important elements in the landscape and in the lives of the inhabitants.

The urban landscape of Arenas is typically Andalusian with narrow, steep streets, whitewashed houses and is very picturesque. The village is surrounded by mountains and is close to the Mediterranean Sea. The mountain Bentomiz is 711 m high, has steep slopes and a beautiful view over the coast, this typifies the region of the Axarquía. There are several marked trails in the area so you can walk for hours without meeting many people, you will be amazed by the beautiful views you will encounter along the way.

The predominant crops are olives, almonds and grapes, which give rise to products such as olive oil, sultanas and muscatel wine. Tropical fruit trees such as avocado and mango can also be seen everywhere.

The river that crosses the municipality is the Rio Seco, which runs through Arenas and flows between Torre del Mar and Caleta de Vélez. Another river that runs along the northern border of the municipality is the Rubite, a tributary of the Vélez.

Besides Arenas, the towns of Vélez Malaga and Torre del Mar are in the immediate vicinity. Torre del Mar has beautiful beaches and a promenade with many bars and restaurants. You can also rent (electric) bikes in Torre del Mar to discover the coastline.
